KITESTAR the basics Full Name • Kitestar Age • 40 moons Gender • Female Sexuality • Bisexual Clan • CoastClan Rank • Leader the appearance Appearance Summary • Kitestar is a sleek, medium-sized brown female cat with green eyes. Overall Appearance • Kitestar's appearance is based off of that of a Havana brown cat. Typical of these breeds, she is of average size with a muscular build that enables her to perform powerful aerobics as necessary for the cats of CoastClan. Her chocolate-brown fur is rich and deep in color, standing out even among the rocks of the coastline, and is short and smooth which gives her a shiny, diminutive appearance; however, her muscle bulk balances out this optical illusion. She is also heavier than usual, making activities such as swimming and climbing, which often require a lighter build, particularly challenging for Kitestar. Her muzzle takes a strange shape, like that of a light bulb's end: it is rather long yet boxy. Her eyes are almond-shaped and emerald green, its brightness betraying the intensity burning within her. Kitestar's ears are large and bat-shaped, and constantly tilted forward giving a sense of alertness and put-togetherness. the personality For strengths, neutral, and weaknesses put; fighting, hunting, swimming, leaping, stamina, agility, climbing, nurturing, and tracking in each. Three in each one. Fighting and hunting can't both be strengths. Strengths • Fighting, tracking, agility Neutral • Leaping, running, stamina Weaknesses • Swimming, climbing, nurturing Fears • Water, poison Overall Personality • + Loyal, intelligent, protective, motherly, reasonable - Harsh, detached, cold, wildly ambitious/hopeful, tyrannical : Intense, fierce, firm, stoic, stubborn, proud Kitestar embodies the flame. She faces the world with a fierceness that is hardly rivaled by anyone. Her intensity for life and survival is enough to be blinding, and her harsh, clipped words leave little room for negotiation. Kitestar always maintains a very stoic and stiff attitude when in her position of leadership, and addresses everyone with a detached sort of coolness that is somehow more burning than chilling. A no-nonsense type of person, Kitestar's decisions are made with careful consideration and are usually very reasonable, though once she decides on something she will not go back-- whether out of pride or out of stubbornness, Kitestar does not allow anyone to change her mind afterward without going down with a fight. The spirit of the fire roars within her as she sharpens her claws and flexes her matriarchal muscle, often wielding her power to the point of being tyrannical. Kitestar needs to have some semblance of control; she wants everything to be her fault, good or bad. That way, she can reassure herself and others that she can bring change and improvement. She has learned to be emotionally detached from her duties and decisions as warrior, and often allows her ambition to flow freely-- it fuels the flames and, sometimes, drives her to the edge of evil. She has wild goals for providing for herself and the Clan, but the journey to her destination is sometimes quite dark-- and sometimes she isn't aware of that. On the other hand, Kitestar is warm and comforting, truly representative of the gentle and beautiful side of fire. She has a very mature and intelligent demeanor around her, and a motherly side that rears its head when she is off duty. Though she is definitely not gullible, she can be lulled into giving second chances, which she wants to give anyway-- despite her coldness, she truly loves her Clanmates and wishes them all to grow up to be strong, dedicated fighters. She herself is completely loyal to the group and her allies, and as a fire goes, will go down burning until she is extinguished once and for all. the history Father • NCP Mother • NCP Siblings • Eagletide (deceased older brother) Other • Lionflower (deceased), Bramblelight (former apprentice and confidante)** **will be adopted out Overall history • Kittenhood: Kitekit and Eaglekit were born in one litter to their parents, and were kind souls born into an evil family. Well... not exactly evil. Wicked, maybe, or malevolent. Their parents were respectable warriors, but only because they both harbored big aspirations and expectations for their children. They were determined to see one of their kits turn into the leader of the Clan. In fact, both kits were named after birds because their parents dreamed that they'd "fly high, conquering all." The kits' parents also encouraged a rivalry, egging them on to play fight. If Kitekit and Eaglekit weren't challenging each other enough, their parents plotted to turn them against each other. It was also a way for them to scope out which one was the stronger one to invest in. Kitekit thus grew up vehemently hating her brother in the nursing den. The rest of the Clan could see that their parents were overbearing and pushy, but could only watch as Kitekit and Eaglekit tumbled about the camp, wrestling everyday over something kits would ever fight over. Apprenticeship: In due time, Kitekit and Eaglekit became apprentices, both paired up with good warriors that their parents approved of. They moved into the apprentices' den and, for the first time, were free of their parents' influence. Kitepaw's mentor praised her constantly for her talent, as she was able to get much of a head start due to the tons of practicing she did as a kitten against her brother. Kitepaw wasn't satisfied, however, with her mentor's satisfaction since she knew Eaglepaw had the same advantage. He was the only one she cared to beat. For much of their earlier apprenticeship, Kitepaw and Eaglepaw remained hardened rivals; the other apprentices knew to stay out of their way when the siblings were fighting. Never had anyone seen such an intense competition between family members; sometimes, an exasperated senior warriors took measures into their own paws to separate them physically, and they received numerous warnings to stop bickering during the night. It wasn't when their mentors, deciding that both were of an advanced enough level to begin learning paired fighting, that they began to resolve themselves. It started with their mentors taking them into the forest for a surprise lesson: they would be working together as a team to fight against their mentors. Neither could think of a worse partner, and their mentors were fully prepared for the smattering of protests that followed in the next couple of minutes. But they were shut up by the retort that if they couldn't work together, they wouldn't prove to be good warriors. To neither of the mentors' surprise, Kitepaw and Eaglepaw turned out to be an extremely well-matched team. They knew each other's movements, anticipated each other's weak points and protected them. Kitepaw and Eaglepaw left shocked and for the first time that night, had a productive conversation that did not end in spitting and claws. Over time they grew closer, opting to hunt together and ask their mentors to patrol together. They opened up about their frustration over their parents' helicopter parenting, which hadn't ceased. Both of them were still determined to become good warriors, but they were growing into themselves. They became better comrades with their fellow 'paws. There was another young soul, Lionpaw, whom Kitepaw admired and dreamed of settling down with; Lionpaw was not high-achieving and lead a more relaxed style that granted her more freedom in doing what she wanted. Inspired by this, Kitepaw decided that she didn't want to be leader anymore, and just wanted to focus on being a great warrior. Eaglepaw, on the other hand, was still aiming for leadership and looked forward to the day he would be picked as deputy. Both supported each other's decisions while continuing to tolerate their parents. Warriorhood: Kitepaw and Eaglepaw received their names at the same ceremony: Kitefire and Eagletide. It was about time, and the newly named warriors were excited at finally becoming full-fledged fighters. Kitefire and Eagletide remained top-notch warriors for a long time, and when the deputy announced his retirement soon, the latter was up for the position on the leader's shortlist to the entire family's delight. Tragedy struck, however, in a battle in the form of a skirmish against SumacClan. CoastClan was fighting offensively, trying to steal some territory while parts of their land were rendered infertile; cats were starving and pushed to invade. Underfed and tired, CoastClan wasn't doing good, and Eagletide was forced to retreat after he got a nasty injury on his leg. Kitefire didn't fare well either, still blinded by grief over the death of Lionflower, with whom she was beginning to settle down with, a few days ago due to untreated greencough. In the end, CoastClan lost and had to move back across the borders. It was a terrible loss, one that generated costs instead of gains. With a lack of herbs to treat all the warriors, Eagletide's leg became infected. Soon the illness spread Eagletide was announced too weak to continue fighting for a while. Their parents were furious; how could a measly infection render their strong son useless? Kitefire, however, stood by her brother and chased them away, remaining by his side to take care of him whenever she could. It wasn't enough; Eagletide passed away before the Clan fully recovered and the leader could choose a deputy. The pressure was on, however, for a decision to make so the rest of the Clan spirit could be uplifted by a vote of confidence. Kitefire knew it before it happened: one night, she was called into the leader's den for a conversation. It turned out her brother was going to be asked to be deputy the night after he died, and well, since Kitefire was pretty close in skill and mindset, she was the next best option. Grudgingly, but sincerely, Kitefire accepted out of love and respect for Eagletide. The morning of the next day the decision was announced, and the ceremony held. Kitefire also received her first apprentice, Bramblepaw, who would become her closest confidante over the next couple of moons. Deputyship: Kitefire was a harsh mentor and a harsh deputy. Much to her initial obliviousness, she directly mirrored her parents' teaching style and continuously pushed Bramblepaw to learn harder skills and her warriors to go on more patrols. She instigated two successful territorial invasions and encouraged everyone to continue antagonizing their neighbors so they could expand their land. Naturally, she gained many haters who were dissatisfied with her and dreaded the day she'd become leader. However, at the same time, she produced results. Without the support of Eagletide or Lionflower, she became distanced from the others. It was Bramblepaw who put a stop to this. Bramblepaw grew up with a different life; her parents, colleagues of Kitefire, had raised her with love. She'd developed a spunk and vivaciousness that often bewildered Kitefire, who watched her happy-go-lucky 'paw make friends with everyone. Their Clanmates talked about the stark juxtaposition between mentor and apprentice and mused whether the leader had paired them up like that on purpose. If he did, it worked: Kitefire was about to push Bramblepaw to do laps around the coastline when the young she-cat put her foot down and refused, exhausted already by the day's training. When Kitefire snapped at her, she snapped back. Kitefire was initially furious, but realized after an epiphany that she was going down the exact same path as her parents. It was all she'd known, but that didn't make it right. Certainly, she knew that as a recipient of such toxic styles. Kitefire worked to become better. Initially ashamed about it, she gradually became more comfortable asking Bramblepaw for feedback on her leadership style and eventually became comfortable opening up to the younger cat over her personal life. Bramblepaw was a good listener and came to understand Kitefire's initial character, sympathizing with her over the death of Eagletide and her mate Lionflower. She could see that her mentor had remained incredibly lonely over many moons and becoming deputy only increased this alienation. Bramblepaw proved to be quite talented herself and received her name rather soon, named Bramblelight over her bright personality. She continued to nurture Kitefire's good side, becoming her closest friend. Kitefire still holds a deep respect for her former apprentice and talks to her about most everything, eternally grateful for Bramblelight's patience and tolerance. Eventually, the leader passed away and Kitefire received her nine lives amongst some lingering concerned murmurs about her treatment of others. Kitestar is still navigating the throes of leadership and in doing so has been forced to open up to more of her Clanmates. There's a lot more trust and appreciation in her now, though Kitestar continues to hold high expectations for CoastClan. the role player Alias • Lionhearted Pronouns • she series What other Characters do you play? • N/A |
